The Unmerited Favor of God's Grace

Titus 2:11
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people

It is fairly common for creditors to offer their debtors a grace period.  The grace period is offered freely by the creditor even though the debtor has not earned the right.  The grace period is a provision which allows payment to be received for a certain period of time after the actual due date. If payment is made during this grace period, no penalties are assessed. For a person burdened by debt, there is such a great relief when a grace period is offered by the creditor.  Ultimately, it is of no benefit to the debtor who does not meet the performance requirements of the agreement.  If the debtor does not make the required payment by the end of the grace period, severe penalties may be assessed, including the cancellation of the agreement.

Fortunately for all of us who are burdened by a sin debt, which is includes all people, Our Divine Creditor offers far more than a grace period.  Almighty God does not owe us anything, yet He offers divine grace which provides all people with unmerited favor for all eternity.  The divine grace of Almighty God protects us from the most severe of all debt penalties – eternal damnation.

The salvation offer of Our Heavenly Father is not based on our good deeds, nor on the basis of our performance of any type.  He provides His grace according to His mercy and loving kindness.  He extends His grace to us by the renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He pours out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior.

We must always remember that we have not earned, nor could we ever merit, the grace of salvation.  We are still unworthy servants.  It is by God’s grace and the sacrifice of His Son that our salvation is possible.

Let us now live righteous and godly lives.  Let us look for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of Jesus Christ.  We cannot do it on our own, but we can through the grace of Almighty God.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the riches of Your grace that are extended to us through Your Son, Jesus Christ.  Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.  We pray that through Your grace we will lead sober, righteous and godly lives.  May those who You have placed in our lives be drawn to accept Your salvation offer that is available to all of them through Your precious grace.  We ask all these things in the name of the One who is the fount of all of Your grace, Jesus Christ.
